WE’RE LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS FOR OUR COMMITTEE

Our community not for profit organisation is created by students for students, and our committee is made up of LGBTQIA+ students from Universities across the UK.

For the first time in our history we are going to trial paying the Student Committee for their time; this will open up opportunities for more students to apply and gain invaluable paid experience.

We need hard-working, enthusiastic, self-motivated, team players to join our student committee!

We will up-skill you, give you professional mentorship and access to unrivalled opportunities as you become part of the team that puts on the largest student LGBTQIA+ event in the UK.

We’re looking for current students who:

  • Have a passion for LGBTQIA+ activism

  • Will use their initiative and come up with exciting new ideas

  • Can work as part of a team and individually, completing any tasks thoroughly and efficiently

  • Are based in the UK and can attend meetings virtually on Wednesday evenings

  • Are free for the main festival from 27 Feb - 2 March in London

Whilst each committee member will have their area outlined below, all will be collectively responsible for the event as a whole, direction and strategy.

Payment: All committee members will be paid £300 a month from October - March for approximately 20 hours a month. You must be living in and have a right to work in the UK.

Committee Roles

  • Graphic Designers (2 roles)

    2 Roles vacant 

    Web + Print based 

    Design work will  includes posters and flyers distributed to universities and colleges across the UK, adverts to appear in our partner magazines such as Attitude Magazine and The New Statesman. Graphics for the website (squarespace) and for partners to share to promote the event. 

    You will also need to create graphics and branding to be used across the event such as signage, red carpet backdrops, bar fronts, staging and exhibition displays. 


    Video and digital graphics

    Producing digital and video graphics to be used in promotional materials across social media and the website and also across the event weekend including the main stage. The role will also include helping keep the website up to date and general graphic design tasks. 

    Excellent understanding of graphic design software especially the Adobe Creative Suite

  • Outreach officers (5 roles)

    5 Roles vacant

    You will be a people person with strong communication skills who enjoys building relationships and networks with students in your region.

    The  5 regions are:

    1. London
    2. Scotland + Northern Ireland
    3. North + Midlands
    4. South West and Wales
    5. South East

    Key Responsibilities:

    Build and manage relationships: Reach out to student unions, careers services, and relevant student groups (e.g., LGBTQIA Societies, academic, live music, drag, and performance societies) to introduce Student Pride and encourage participation.

    Use a variety of tools: Arrange meetings at Universities, use social media and email, to share event details and encourage sign-ups

    Encourage Student Participation: Promote opportunities for students to perform on the music stage, DJ, participate in performance societies, or present post-grad thesis projects on research panels.

    Track Ticket Sales and progress: Monitor ticket sales and use spreadsheets to manage data and outreach metrics.

    Coordinate: Work closely with the team to align outreach strategies

  • Media Officers (3 roles)

    2 Roles vacant

    You will be part of a media team of 3 who will be implementing a strategy set by the whole committee with professional guidance. As a team you will work with multiple platforms including, but not limited to:

    Instagram, TikTok, Snap and X Focus on visually-driven, short-form content (memes, reels, stories, challenges) that resonates with LGBT+ students. Highlight diverse voices. Recap past events and new content for quick updates and trends.

    YouTube Creating YouTube shorts and longer videos using even recaps and new content.

    Linkedin: professional networking and highlighting achievements within the LGBT+ student community. 

    Mailchimp: use newsletters for event announcements, community stories, and broader updates.

    Use the NSP website to create content and blogs

    Press releases: Build relationships with Student and LGBT media and issue press releases for coverage of the event. 

    Collaborations: Partner with local communities and influencers for content creation and wider reach

    Content Scheduling & Planning

    Yearly Calendar: Schedule content year round using our back catalogue of content, schedule for awareness days and university-specific events.

    Monthly Themes: Focus on specific topics each month to build consistent engagement.

    Current Trends: Stay agile with trends, especially on TikTok, Instagram and  X.

    There will be wider scope to do special projects and media focussed initiatives. 

    You will have:

    An excellent understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community and what is prominently being publicised currently. 

    Experience with copy or media/social media  and preferably studying on a media based course or an ability to demonstrate skills in the area.

    An ability to craft compelling content through SEO, persuasive storytelling and data analysis to drive engagement across our various digital platforms. 



  • Speakers liaison (1 role)

    1 Role vacant

    We are looking for a strong charismatic person who likes to deal with people to be responsible for coordinating and managing speakers for the Student Pride festival weekend. This role involves direct communication with agents, publicists, and potential speakers, ranging from industry specialists to celebrities. The Speakers Liaison will ensure a diverse lineup of speakers for the main stage during the daytime festival, UpSkill events focused on career development, and hosts for the Friday night Awards ceremony.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Research and Outreach: Identify and reach out to potential speakers, including industry specialists and celebrities, through direct messaging and formal communication with agents/publicists.

    Coordination: Work closely with the committee to align speaker topics with festival themes and audience interests.

    Logistics Management: Coordinate travel, accommodation, and scheduling for speakers participating in the festival.

    Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with speakers and their representatives throughout the planning process.

    Event Support: Assist in the setup and coordination of speakers during festival events, ensuring a smooth experience for both speakers and attendees.es here

  • Event Production (1 role)

    1 Role vacant

    We are looking for someone to manage the event production of the event. You look after booking and managing additional elements that are a part of the event such as the Therapy Puppies, wellness area, catering for the team. You will work with other staff members and mentors liaising with the venue for logistics, risk assessments etc. Your work will be vital to the success of the event!

    You will have:

    Excellent organisational skills, and some competency in excel spreadsheets.

    Preferably studying for an event management / production course 

    An ability to problem solve quickly and efficiently. 

    A basic understanding of health and safety requirements at events.
